COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Our Core Focus - Social Responsibility

RCV wants to offer more than just our services to our community.

It is our duty to pay it forward and we truly believe in giving back to the local community.

October is Breast Cancer
Awareness Month

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Every October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, RCV in partnership with Bone Dry Roofing hosts our annual RCV Loves Pink campaign. For every roof replacement sold during the month of October, RCV makes a donation to Susan G. Komen to fund breast cancer research and support.

We look forward to this campaign and appreciate all who help to support this worthy cause! Learn more about the Susan G. Komen foundation below.

2022 Veteran Roof Donation

Veterans are very important to RCV Roofing, Siding, and Gutters. Jay Nelson the founding leader of RCV and Ernie Porter the General Manager are both veterans themselves and heavily value the contributions veterans make to our country. That is why RCV participates in Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project. Every year, RCV donates the labor for a new roof and Owens Corning donates the materials to a local veteran in need.

This year, we are excited to announce Jim Groh as this year’s recipient. Jim is a valued member of the Bloomington community and served in the Marine Corp from 1978-1981. His ties to Bloomington go back over 50 years. His family moved to Bloomington in 1967 when his parents bought the house that he currently resides in today.

His home and the community are very important to Jim, and that is why RCV is honored to have helped install his new roof and gutters. Jim is also a father of 2 and has two grandkids. He has been battling with some recent health issues so it was important for RCV to alleviate his concern about replacing his old roof and gutters.RCV has also had some help from some of our corporate sponsors who provided time, materials and money for the project.

RCV provided all the labor for the installation of the roof and gutters. Owens Corning provided all the shingles and underlayment. Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County funded the gutter material and decking charges. ABC Supply supplied all the roof accessories, and Velux provided the skylight.

A huge thank you to all of our corporate sponsors and employees who made this project possible. Also a big thank you to Jim for his service to our country and service to the Bloomington community.

If you or someone you know is a Veteran and in need of a roof replacement, please apply for our Veteran Roof Giveaway. The deadline to enter is July 1st of each year. Applications received after this deadline will be considered the following year. For the full video library, click here

Correct-A-Roof Campaign

RCV wants to give assistance to those in our community that need it the most. Every year, we provide a free roof replacement to a household facing very difficult circumstances and desperately in need of a new roof.  If you or someone you know needs a new roof, but can’t afford it due to extremely difficult circumstances, please apply for our Correct-A-Roof Campaign.  (For full video library, click here.)

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is one of the best non-profits in Bloomington, and RCV is proud to be involved with this amazing organization. For the last several years, RCV has provided free labor to help Habitat to eliminate poverty housing by building decent, affordable homes in partnership with qualifying families. In 2019, RCV committed to a five-year cash donation to also help further their noble mission.

The Habitat mission has a special urgency in Monroe County, as 1 in 5 (22%) people live in poverty. Monroe County is the least affordable place to live in the state of Indiana. An employee earning minimum wage must work 100 hours per week every week of the year to afford a two-bedroom apartment.

Teacher of the Year

RCV believes in thanking our local teachers and giving back to education.

Each year the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce’s Success School, a program designed to connect the business community with local schools and students, hosts a celebration of educators. The Educator of the Year Award recognizes local teachers, administrators and/or staff, as well as educational programs, with a special dinner and awards presentation.

RCV is thrilled to donate time, labor and material for a full gutter replacement to the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Educator Award. In addition, RCV annually donates gift certificates for Monroe County Community School Corporation to give back to education.
